Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Thursday he has a "big toolkit" to aid pressures in the government bond market. While he didn't name them specifically, Bessent has several options, including reducing duration of the government's holding, ramping up the bond buyback program and changing the duration composition of the Treasury portfolio.

US stocks closed lower on Thursday as rising Treasury yields pressured equities, while higher oil prices and a sharp decline in Walmart shares added to investor concerns. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 1%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also declined.
