Consumer Warning Lights

There were fresh signs of consumer weakness on Friday. U.S. retail sales fell by 0.6% in July, falling short of the 0.1% increase that economists had expected. Analysts said the decline could partly be due to a shift in the timing of Amazon's Prime Day.
